Turnkey plants are often planned by several teams using CAD, CAE, ECAD and ERP systems. Each of these tools has its justification - but an overall view of the plant in the spatial environment is missing. This lack of coherence makes coordination more difficult, triggers additional change loops and extends project times. The planning capacity of the specialists in the company is limited anyway. Despite high demand and available components, many manufacturers are unable to exploit their full potential. The catch: without sound planning, they cannot even submit an offer and have to leave the field to the competition. The planning process is proving to be a brake on growth.
